Do You Like Free Stuff?
I am travellling back to LA to see my little sister graduate, so I apologize for the “roundup” style post. Lucky for you, it’s full of free stuff!
The first is a free Live Pack from the man who has been bringing us tiiiiight and super unique live packs, AfroDJMac. This one is based on old Nintendo sounds and is super fun. Now you can have those cool 8-bit sounds right in Live! This has totally replaced my old 8-bit VST.
Second, we have a new Instrument Rack from Francis Prève, a fellow Austin resident. Read his description of how made it and download this cool synth based on Tuvan Throat singing at his website. Make sure to open it up and take a look around, you can learn a lot. I especially like the way that the “vowel” knob selects different areas of the waveform in Simpler. This is a great example of maximizing Simpler’s capabilities!

Finally, a free beat tape by some mystery genius named Chris P. This guy made a beat tape entirely out of D’Angelo samples and it is 100% doooooope. Sloppy and soulful, just how I like it. Please DL this and never stop playing it, ever.
I’m getting myself settled in LA for the summer, so expect a lot of field reporting about the music scene here! I’m super excited to check out Sound.wavs in particular. Let me know in the comments or in the twitter if you have any spots I should check out while I’m home.
